Eli Wallach was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 7, 1915. He attended The University of Texas at Austin and later earned a Masters from The City College of New York. During World War II, Wallach served as a Second Lieutenant in Casablanca and and later in France. Upon his return from the war, Wallach made his Broadway debut in 1945 and won his first Tony Award in 1951 for his role in The Rose Tattoo.
After an extensive theatre career, Wallach made his big-screen debut in Baby Doll in 1956, which gave way to a successful film career.
Recently, Wallach guest starred in "The Wrap Party" episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip as a former blacklisted writer, and had roles in 2006 films The Holiday and The Hoax. He is currently married to Anne Jackson and they have three children together: Peter, Katherine and Roberta.
