Frances Conroy was born and raised in Georgia. She eventually moved to New York to study drama at the Julliard School for performing arts. An impressive career spanning several decades, Conroy has been nominated for quite a number of awards, notably winning a Screen Actors Guild Award and Golden Globe for her role as Ruth Fisher in Six Feet Under. Recently, she has appeared on American Horror Story, which she was nominated for an Emmy Award. She has been married to actor Jan Munroe since 1992.
