The Big Uneasy - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Klaus is working on a painting while Genevieve is in bed. She suggests they throw a Harvest party for the witches to introduce the girls back into society. And since he’s trying to form an alliance with the witches, he agrees and uses the hope that the treaty is working to get Elijah on board.

At the same time, the young witches are chanting in a cave when Monique receives a message from the ancestors. They inform her that it’s time to complete the reaping by resurrecting the fourth Harvest girl. That means it’s time for Genevieve to die.

Klaus calls Oliver requesting that he find a werewolf relative of his named Cary. He also tells Oliver to make sure that the werewolves accept Elijah's invitation to the witch feast since the more Elijah thinks the treaty is working, the less chance he’ll get in their way.

Monique tells Genevieve about the ancestors’ message, but assures her that it’s not her time yet. Before she goes, she wants to make sure no vampire or werewolf can ever control their fate again. Monique gives her the chance to make that happen.

Elijah goes around to the different sanctions to invite them to the feast. However, when he asks the werewolves to come they concede too easily, making Elijah nervous. He warns Hayley not to trust any of them. Hayley confronts them about what they’re hiding, so Jackson confesses about their arrangement with Klaus.

Oliver is finally able to track Cary down and bring him to Klaus. He shows Kerry his mother’s ring and asks to know what stone it used to hold. Kerry is unsure so Klaus asks him to find out and report back to him.

Marcel and Thierry attempt to recruit Diego into their fold against Klaus. However, given how Marcel’s last attempt at mutiny went, Diego thinks it would be best to stick with Elijah’s treaty, even if it means appeasing the witches.

Klaus asks Genevieve to undo the hex they put upon Cami’s uncle Kiernan. She suggests she may be able to help if she were to have a look at his mother’s old Grimoire, but Klaus immediately declines, knowing she wants the book for different reasons.

Once the festivities begin, Genevieve orders one of her henchmen to head over to Klaus’ compound in the hopes of finding the Grimoire. He finds it right away, but that’s only because Klaus knew he was coming.

Still upset that Davina didn’t have to sacrifice like the rest of the Harvest girls, Monique plots with Genevieve to make it so no one will present Davina with gifts during the feast. Feeling unwanted, Davina goes to leave and bumps into Josh.

Before they can head out, Klaus gives a speech, defending the treaty and even pardons Josh for conspiring against him. He presents Davina with a small box, which holds a ring and a scroll with the spell of how to make a daylight ring. Just then, a band comes in and says they have a message from Marcel. They slit their wrists, sending all of the vampires into a killing spree. When the attack is over, Klaus sees a message written in blood on the wall saying, “There will be no peace.”

Elijah immediately tracks Marcel down, furious that he decided to break their agreement. In retaliation, he rips Thierry’s heart out of his chest, killing him. Marcel informs Elijah that his precious brother is once again not being honest with him and is having a secret alliance with the werewolves.

Klaus presents Genevieve with a gift of her own: the hands of the man she sent to steal the Grimoire. She admits that she was actually considering helping Cami cure her uncle from the hex, but after this she’s had a change of heart. She also informs him that Marcel and Cami have slept together, knowing he has feelings for her.

After the attack, Hayley realizes that they’ll never be safe no matter how many treaties are put in place. She agrees to go along with Jackson and Oliver’s plan with Klaus, but makes them promise that no matter what, they won’t trust him.

Elijah confronts Klaus about secretly working with the werewolves behind his back. Klaus points out that they’re also his family. Elijah says he’s done putting Klaus’ feelings before his own. From now on, if he wants something, he’ll take it.

Klaus goes to Cami and apologizes for angering Genevieve and making her decide not to help Kiernan. He tells her that he knows what happened between her and Marcel and if he ever sees Marcel again, he’ll kill him.

As Marcel mourns for Thierry’s death, Diego stops by with a bunch of other vampires, ready to band together to take Klaus down. Marcel promises that there won’t be any backing down this time.

Since Genevieve failed to obtain the Grimoire, Monique attempts to take her life as planned. But the ancestors contact her again with a new message. They tell Monique to let Genevieve live if she can offer up the life of Klaus’ child.
