Moon Over Bourbon Street - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
It’s been a few months since Rebekah left New Orleans and Klaus has taken to abandoning his duties as the new king. Instead, he spends his time painting and in the arms of Genevieve. Elijah informs Klaus that if he doesn’t decide to rule, then he’ll do it himself.

Hayley uses Celeste’s herbal potion to successfully break the curse on her fellow werewolves, who can now remain human after the full moon. Jackson returns and begins spending quite a bit of time with Hayley. However, some of the pack aren’t as easily forgiving about who she used to spend her time with.

Oliver approaches Hayley and informs her of a town meeting that Elijah is holding with all the factions except for the werewolves. Furious over her family’s exclusion, Hayley storms over to the meeting and demands that the wolves be given a voice or else.

Fearful about her ancestors’ threats, Davina still refuses to do magic, which is making her a bit of an outsider among her fellow witches. She goes to visit Josh and vent about it and Marcel overhears. He tells Thierry to round up everyone he can to help them take back the city.

Cami interrupts one of Klaus and Genevieve’s love sessions to ask for his help in curing her Uncle Kieran, who keeps getting worse and worse. Klaus tells her that the hex has done too much damage at this point. His point is proven only a little while later when Kieran tries to attack Cami while tied up in the church attic.

A woman named Francesca asks to meet Elijah at a bar. She informs him that she’ll be taking over Kieran’s position on the town council and suggests it will be beneficial for him to have her on his side. Elijah agrees to let her fill the position until Kieran recovers.

Marcel goes to see Josh and explains how important it is for Davina to start using magic again. It is a dangerous time for all of the factions and he wants her to be able to protect herself. Josh asks Josh to speak to her about it.

Klaus agrees with Hayley’s thoughts about letting the werewolves into the fold and suggests that Elijah throw a party for all the factions to help ease the tensions amid the community. Unsurprisingly, tensions run high at first and a fight between Diego and Oliver ensues. However, Hayley intervenes with an impressive speech, telling everyone to either kill each other or try to co-exist since they’re all at fault for one thing or another.

While Elijah shares a slow dance with Hayley, Klaus seeks a private meeting with Jackson and offers him a deal. If he agrees to become a hybrid, Klaus will hand over his mother’s Moonlight ring, which protects werewolves from the curse at every full moon. That’s more than enough to hold Jackson’s interest.

Marcel goes to see how Cami is doing and has a witch friend place a boundary spell around Kieran so he can’t attack her again. She is grateful for his help, which leads to a night of drinking and eventually sleeping together as Genevieve watches through the magic dream catcher she and Cami both own. Before leaving the next morning, Marcel notices the object and recognizes what it is. He takes it with him and smashes it, worried that Klaus will discover he’s still in town.

As promised, Josh talks to Davina and convinces her to stop caring what the other witches think since she already has a bunch of people who love and care about her, including himself and Marcel. It gives her the confidence to embrace her powers and she performs her very first spell post-harvest.

In light of the events from the previous evening, Elijah creates a new treaty for all the faction representatives to sign using their mixed blood as ink. But as this is going on, Jackson informs Oliver of Klaus’ offer, which would make their bite lethal to vampires 24/7 and make them not just their enemies equals, but their superiors. Oliver appears onboard with the idea.

Elijah brings the treaty to Klaus and tells him to sign it. He does, but insists that it won’t work for very long. Elijah warns him to not wage war against him because he will lose, to which Klaus responds, “We’ll see,” as he admires his most recent painting of the city, set under the light of a full moon.
