True Detective

Season Two Plot:The season's story takes place in California and follows the interweaving stories of officers from three cooperating police departments; when California Highway Patrol officer and war veteran Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch) discovers the body of a corrupt city manager on the side of a highway, Vinci Police Department detective Raymond "Ray" Velcoro (Colin Farrell) and Ventura County Sheriff's Office CID Antigone "Ani" Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams) are called to assist in the following investigation. Career criminal Francis "Frank" Semyon (Vince Vaughn) attempts to legitimize his business with his wife Jordan (Kelly Reilly) by investing in a rail project overseen by Caspere, but loses his money when Caspere is killed, prompting him to start his own investigation.

Season One Plot:In 2012, Louisiana State Police Detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart are brought in to revisit a homicide case they worked in 1995. As the inquiry unfolds in present day through separate interrogations, the two former detectives narrate the story of their investigation, reopening unhealed wounds, and drawing into question their supposed solving of a bizarre ritualistic murder in 1995. The timelines braid and converge in 2012 as each man is pulled back into a world they believed they'd left behind. In learning about each other and their killer, it becomes clear that darkness lives on both sides of the law.

Written and created by Nic Pizzolatto ('The Killing') and directed by Cary Fukunaga ('Sin Nombre,' 'Jane Eyre'), 'True Detective' stars Woody Harrelson as Martin Hart and Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle. The series also stars Michelle Monaghan (‘Mission: Impossible III') as Maggie, Hart's wife; Kevin Dunn ('Veep') as Major Quesada, the supervising officer in 1995; and Tory Kittles ('Sons of Anarchy') and Michael Potts ('The Wire') as Dets. Papania and Gilbough, the investigators now probing Hart and Cohle for answers. (Source: HBO)

1x7: After You've Gone recap: Cohle and Hart sit down together in a bar. Hart asks why they are there and Cohle explains. He returned because he feels like he has left something unfinished. Hart doesn't want to help him and doesn't think he can be trusted. 1x4: Who Goes There recap: Cohle and Hart pay another visit to Charlie Lange in prison. Hart accuses him of having Reggie Ledoux kill Dora Lange but this only angers him. Cohle asks Charlie to stop acting and says Ledoux knew about Dora because Charlie showed him photos. Hart asks about Ledoux and why Charlie considers him a creep. Ledoux told him about somewhere down south where rich men took part in devil worshipping. Charlie explains that Ledoux had a spiral symbol on his back that was their sign. Cohle asks about any friends Ledoux may have had and Charlie suggests they speak to Tyrone Weems. On their way out, Charlie asks if his talking about Dora is what got her killed.
