How often do we get to see a true American love story in front of us today, especially on national TV. Whether singing, telling stories, or sharing intimate glimpses into their lives, what comes across most in hit country music duo Joey+Rory's new half-hour variety show is their deep love for each other.
You've seen their music videos and heard their songs on the radio. But with the all the critical acclaim, awards, TV exposure, and commercial endorsements they've received, you'd hardly believe this husband-and-wife duo still live in the same farmhouse they did when they got started singing and Joey still works at their family-owned cafe on her days off. But they do, and that's part of what makes them so special. Happily married for ten years, the 2010 Academy of Country Music's "Top New Vocal Duo" award winners, Joey+Rory are as real as they come. Regulars on the Grand Ol' Opry, they've been criss-crossing the country and globe for last four years playing shows for people in small communities everywhere. With the debut of RFD-TV's "The Joey & Rory Show", they now invite the world into their small-town community.
Though she gets her singing talent from her mama, Joey's stunning voice is often compared to her heroes Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton, for it's beautiful warmth and sincerity. A true homemaker at heart, when she's not on the road touring with her husband, you'll either find her in her garden growing fresh vegetables to serve to her family or serving customers with her sister, Marcy, at the small country diner "Marcy Jo's Mealhouse". Open for five years now, Marcy Jo's has become a wildly popular destination for locals and travelers from all over the country, wanting to try their tasty homemade dishes and hopefully catch a glimpse of Joey and Rory.
A gifted and highly-sought-after songwriter, Rory has written four #1 hits such as ‘Some Beach' by Blake Shelton and ‘A Little More Country Than That' by Easton Corbin. Dozens of his songs have been recorded by the biggest artists in country music. Originally from Kansas and known for his trademark overalls, homespun storytelling, sense-of-humor and brilliant lyrical ability. Rory was already one of the most highly regarded songwriters in Nashville, before joining forces with his wife in 2008 as a recording duo. After a decade of chart-topping songs for others, they now write hit songs for themselves and have taken the world by storm with their beautiful story and unique brand of ‘new classic' country music.
"The Joey & Rory Show" is filmed entirely on location in the small community of Pottsville, Tennessee. This is where Joey and Rory have been living, dreaming and raising kids and corn for the last decade. The weekly series is filled with powerful music, fun stories, heart-warming insights and behind-the-scenes footage of the world that they live in. (Source: RFD TV)
