Could "promotional materials" be defined? For instance, another member got me started on the concept of using screencaps to supplement a recap. I'm not using promotional images for those: just screencaps from the DVD.
Using a limited number of screencaps in any given episode gallery would almost certainly fall within "fair use" standards.
Otherwise for older shows, that leaves us with pretty much nothing: it's not like the studios are pumping out promotional material for shows that were canceled 5, 10, 20 years ago. Even though those shows are on DVD and could be screencapped for use here.
I'm not talking about stuff like screencapping an entire episode, once every couple of seconds (although there's sites out there that do just that for shows like Star Trek and Pushing Daisies). Just 5-10 images per episode, tops. |
