COMING ATTRACTION
(Originally aired on 4/9/06 as "Auto Show")
Many feared that the drive-in movie theater, the beloved pop culture icon of yesteryear, faced extinction. Believe it or not, drive-ins are making something of a comeback. This Sunday Morning Bill Geist catches a movie at the grand opening of the Showboat, a new drive-in in Hockley, Texas. He then drives over to Garrett, Texas, where he watches a few movies al fresco at the Galaxy Drive-In, which opened in 2004. Since then, the theater has grown to four screens. In 2005, three of the five new drive-ins were built in Texas.
