Congress has poured seven billion dollars into an ambitious hole in the ground. That hole houses Project Tic Toc, the apparatus and twelve thousand person support staff for the Time Tunnel, a project a decade in the making. Senator Clark visits the project to learn just what Congress has bought, and isn't pleased with the lack of progress. Daring engineer Tony Newman sees his life's work about to vanish into, well, history, so he determines to prove the concept in the most practical way: he sends himself back in time. But the team at Project Tic Toc cannot retrieve him, and so his mentor Professor Doug Phillips follows him into time to help him until the scientists at the project can solve the problems and retrieve the men. Doug and Tony travel to some of the most pivotal moments in history, and even occasionally into the future, as they struggle to stay alive and sometimes to thwart the efforts of villains out of time and space!
