44 :03x01 - Death Stalks the Big Top (1) (Sep/28/1986)
Upon her arrival in Washington DC for her niece’s wedding, Jessica learns that one of the presents that Carol recently received was a trinket that her grandfather Neil promised her years before. Wondering how he could have sent the present to her since he passed away five years ago in a boating accident, Jessica promises to look into who could have sent Carol the package from Arkansas. Upon her arrival in Arkansas, Jessica finds her way to a traveling circus where she discovers a roustabout named Carl is actually Neil. Things get a little sticky when an unpopular circus worker is murdered and all the evidence points to Neil being the prime suspect.

46 :03x03 - Unfinished Business (Oct/12/1986)
Following his retirement, Lt. Bernard Kale makes a vow that now he has free time, he solve the only murder case that eluded being closed: the drowning of friend Lowel Dixon at nearby lake. Since Dixon’s death occurred during a property development scandal that included Seth, Jessica decides to go to Juniper Lake to help Kale straighten things out. However, once all the old suspects arrive at the lake, it doesn’t take long for a new murder to take place; ultimately forcing Jessica and Lt. Kale to work with the local sheriff to figure out if the murder is connected to Kale’s unsolved case from 10 years ago.

When an old beau of Jessica comes to Cabot Cove with a group of treasure hunters to look for a treasure sunken in the nearby harbor, she gets caught up in an investigation when one of the treasure hunters almost dies during the first dive and one of the other partners ends up dead later that night. After Sheriff Tupper arrests another one of the divers for their partner’s murder, Jessica believes that he is innocent and asks a reluctant Seth to help her prove his innocence and find the real killer. It is also during this time when Jessica tries to figure out what David is hiding from her when Sheriff Tupper and Seth see he has been acting suspiciously since his return home.

When a heart attack lands veteran reporter Haskell Drake in the hospital, Jessica travels to Boston to see her friend. Looking to find a way to give Haskell the will to live, Jessica reluctantly agrees to try and take down his publisher Lamar Bennett for turning Boston Daily Sentinel from a respectable newspaper into a tabloid rag. When Bennett dies of a brain hemorrhage at an industry dinner, Jessica soon finds herself as a person of interest in the Boston Police Department’s investigation of Bennett’s death since she knew so much about the cause of death. Jessica then finds herself doing research for a story Haskell wants to write about Bennett’s life and soon discovers that several reporters at the newspaper may have had means and motive to want Bennett dead.
