	Detective Lewis, played by Kevin Whately Detective Lewis is the hard working, honest and loyal assistant to Inspector Morse. Unlike Morse, Lewis is married with children and has a vastly different background.


	Inspector Morse, played by John Thaw Inspector Morse is an English policeman in his fifties who has a cynical outlook and is rather sarcastic. He likes music by Mozart, fast cars - shown by him owning a Jaguar and has a taste for beer. He is unmarried and has no children; judging by his somewhat patronising attitude to many of the opposite it is possible he is a misogynist. Morse dies due to complications arising from his diabetes.
