Following controversy surrounding Isaiah Washington (Preston Burke) and an altercation with T. R. Knight (George O'Malley) over his sexuality in October of 2006, Washington's contract with the series was not renewed. It was announced on June 7, 2007 by ABC that his character was dropped from the show. |

Fisher Plaza, home to Seattle's KOMO-TV, is the building used for exterior shots of Seattle Grace due to its location, which is close to the Space Needle and Seattle high-rise buildings. Interior scenes are filmed at VA Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center in North Hills, California. Exterior shots of Meredith's home are of an actual Seattle home, but the interior scenes are shot on a set. |
