I've seen this critism in a number of reviews, much happens so making it a cracking pilot, but as for ep1 in a projected long running series they do seem to have rushed through things and given loadsa stuff away that, as you say, could have and maybe should have been introduced bit-by-bit.
I'm guessing time will tell. |

The show seems to be plagued by the same issues that newer shows had like creative differences, re-shooting, changes in script, a different ending for the pilot. Reminded me of Dollhouse a bit, but unlike Dollhouse had stronger numbers but it's just the first episode.
That's the madness. I think the whole unveiling of spoilers was a way to dumb the show just a tad to gain the attention of younger fans and older fans who may or may not stick around for the full run. Giving the problems that the show has had (not including just an hour for a pilot episode), I can understand why they'd only show four episodes then go on hiatus. The network didn't have too much confidence in it and so will decide its fate but how it performs in the ratings.
With that said, it was pretty good...doesn't have the impact that the original did twenty five years ago but that's to be expected.

I don't think this will make it past the fourth episode. For those of you that haven't seen the original series I suggest you watch it. Much better done than this one and for those of you who liked Anne, Jane Bader from the orininal series was hot as well. |
