I approached this episode with an air of caution, unsure if I wanted to watch what I saw as another series I had seen before in a slightly different makeup. How glad am I that I decided to give it a chance. The production was slick, the acting in most parts equally impressive but most of all for me it was highly enjoyable and immersive. It certainly hooked me in from the start and I am looking forward to the second episode.
Alicia (Julianna Margulies) returns to work after her husband’s very public affair and fall from office (State Attorney) and finds it hard to juggle her family and rebuilding her career that was placed on hold due to her husband’s career. Facing her first case and a trial judge who has locked horns with her husband in the past the first few days are tough.
With the aid of her investigator (Archie Panjabi) she settles into her new role and fights hard to ensure justice is served. Illuminating characters and a well written episode have certainly helped this pilot off the ground.
