I thoroughly enjoyed the premiere as well. The show is excellently paced and well acted, and most importantly, well-written. The only character I have even the slightest issue with is the actress - I just found her a tad odd, and for some reason felt she was never looking the other members in the eyes, which is a weired feeling to get from a 2-D broadcast. |

Has anyone noticed that Gina Bellman seems to be a tad bit preggers in the July 26th episode?? Or is it just my imagination?? |

Was checking out Bellman stomach during last ep and methinks you may have a point. It's been a wonder of mine for quite awhile now as to what tv-makers do when one of their stars becomes pregnant. Do they have contingency plans already in place, have they taken out insurance. Say Emma Watson got pregnant before the filming of the last Potter Movie(s). Would they postpone the shoot, do a total rewrite as obviously energetic fight scenes and wire work would be out of the question, or would they recast her role. If they recast could she sue them for millions??? Is this why women aren't the main character in more tv-shows & movies. I seem to recall that when Michelle Ryan signed for Bionic Woman she had to sign a non baby contract <- though I might have completely misunderstood/misheard that interview.
But anyway, love the team but the stories this season have been kinda meh! Will continue to stick with it for Parker and cos the only other thing to watch on Thursday mornings is the Philanthropist which has quickly become a nothing show - but methinks that's for the other board. |

Usually they get more stunt women involved for the fighting scenes or dumb them down. For instance on HIMYM both women became pregnant Lily (Alyson Hannigan) got in an arguement with Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and she was out of commission for a few episodes due to it was close to the babies due date and Robin (Cobie Smulders) wore baggy clothes and was usually holding something in the way so cameras couldn't see the bump. Other times they'll try and place the actual pregnancy into the script. It can be a problem for someone to become pregnant but it's only around 4-5 months that they won't be able to take part in the scenes. For a television show especially it's easy to pick up at a later date, for movies it is more problematic. She probably did sign a clause about pregnancy alot do that now.
About Leverage I also do hate the new intro and there needs to be more tech savvy from Hardison getting boring. |

Yeah, I'm thinkin' this season is on a kinda low burn, too. Different writers maybe? Or maybe it is the fact that Bellman is knocked up and they have had to adjust the story line to help cover that? Either way, I think something is lacking this season, also.
As for Hardison, I'm glad they toned down his affectations, but the tech stuff could be more up front and detailed. |

Rather than fudge the storys so Ms Bellman can appear behind tables, holding clipboards, sitting down or shot from behind, I'd have prefered them to simply have her "out of commision" for the bump-duration. Can a fairly new series really afford to sacrifice story integrity(?) & flow to enable her to be apart of the hustle/con without actually doing much. On the evidence of the last few eps, and the fact that there ain't many left of this season, I'm not confident it will return. |

Well, it looks like Mz Bellman is out , at least for the time being, and Mz Ryan is in! Although she is pleasing to look at, I still expect her to turn at any moment and pronounce, "I am Seven of Nine"! Sorry, I don't think I will ever get that image out of my head when I look at her. Can she save the show? Maybe. A lot of folks (read as dirty old men) will be tuning in just to oogle her. If it is just temp and Mz Bellman comes back, it might have a shot. Other wise I give it one more season just to exploit Seven of. . . er Mz Ryan! |
