Episode Recap

A Mixed Martial Arts fighting match is held in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mark Howorth initially has the opening advantage but he soon gets dizzy spells and then passes out as his opponent Tank beats him.

Mark's coach and father, Jack, calls in Nate and explains that Rucker, his son's former manager, ordered him to throw the match while he bet on Tank. When Mark refused, Rucker drugged Mark's water. Jack admits that he lost his job and his cousin Jon Wertheimer is his ring doctor. Due to the beating he took, it's likely Mark will never fight again.

The team goes over Jed Rucker's record as a gym owner and figures he's overall scum. Eliot notes that the man has skills. When Sophie complains, Eliot insists on defending the skill and expertise of the fighters involved. He has Parker and Hardison demonstrate and Hardison goes down quickly thanks to the sleeper hold that Eliot has taught Parker. Sophie checks the files and determines that Rucker is a local golf champion.

At the club, Rucker is waiting for his fourth and Nate arrives with Parker as his caddy. Nate is eager to play for money and taunts Rucker into playing for $2,000 a hole. They begin and Nate starts winning thanks to Hardison's rigged golf balls. Meanwhile, Parker substitutes some rigged balls to Rucker's caddy to make sure he loses. Thanks to Parker wearing a hidden camera, Hardison can redirect his golf balls anywhere he wants with a remote control. Parker steals his wallet and after Nate wins and demands his money, Nate tells him that he can pay him tomorrow and what hotel he's staying at.

Rucker goes back to his gym and complains to his aide, Alex. He has his man check out Nate at the hotel and find out why he's in town. Nate comes to the gym and Rucker pays him and asks what he does. Rucker goes back to his office and sees Nate talking with a walk-in fighter, Eliot. Rucker tells his man to watch Eliot. After Eliot leaves, Rucker and his men corner Eliot. As Eliot fights them, Parker secretly captures the fighting on a cell phone and uploads the video. Rucker calls his men off and asks who Eliot is. Back at base, Hardison uses the video to instantly promote Eliot on the Internet.

Rucker takes Eliot back to his gym and asks how Nate is involved. Eliot explains that Nate runs an illegal fight club in South Dakota and has come to Nebraska to look for fresh talent. He explains that he has to find some fighters for Nate, who is meeting with a woman the next day. Rucker invites him up for a drink and Eliot gives Rucker the flight that Sophie is coming. Thanks to Hardison, Sophie shows up as a major TV producer. Hardison then triggers a news alert about Eliot's fight and Rucker sees it. He invites Eliot to fight for him, but Eliot says he owes Nate money so Nate has him run security and extortion, and lets him fight sometimes. Rucker explains that most of his fighters are losers but Eliot has talent. Eliot tosses out a salary demand based on Hardison's estimates of Rucker's resources, and Rucker agrees.

Eliot sets up Sophie to meet with Rucker, and explains that MMA fighting is all about control. Rucker meets with Sophie and convinces her that she needs him, not a middleman like Nate. He asks her what show she's there to produce. Hardison comes up with a pop teen show for her to claim to promote. They're interrupted when Nate barges in to demand that Sophie meet with him. Rucker asks to meet with her at the show she's supposedly promoting and Sophie has no choice but to agree.

Hardison and Parker go to the stadium to take over the director's job while Nate, posing as a chauffeur, strands the director, Todd Laurence, in the back country. Parker and Hardison take over and Sophie then sets herself up as producer and discusses Nate's situation with Rucker when he visits. Hardison poses as Laurence while Sophie explains she makes $5 million a show for a $500,000 investment. All she needs is talent. Rucker offers her whoever she needs and notes that Nate is a fraud. He says that he's already got Eliot and offers to put up the full $500,000 to outbid Nate's $250,000 offer. Sophie agrees to the deal.

Rucker's assistant Alex checks with his cousin Jimmy and says that nobody has ever heard of Nate, and their contact at the hotel has reported that Jack met with Nate. Rucker figures it's time to teach Nate a lesson.

The next day, Sophie comes to see Rucker and collect her money. He wants to know where her partners are and tells her that he knows what she's up to. He orders Tank to beat her up and Nate and Eliot barge in. Nate tells Parker and Hardison to close it down. Rucker wants Eliot to fight for him and take a dive against Tank. If he doesn't, Jack and Mark will have "accidents." Eliot accepts and they leave. Outside, Eliot insists that they play along and he takes the dive, and insists it's the right move.

As Eliot practices for the fight at Rucker's gym, Sophie visits him and says he doesn't have to lose. Eliot insists it's not that bad but Sophie wonders if he can handle the loss of control. He explains that the control is on the inside, not the outside, and he has it.

Before the MMA fight begins, Alex tells Rucker he had to lay off the bet with a bunch of bookies. Rucker has bet everything he's got, and tells Tank to break every bone in Eliot's body as an object lesson. As Sophie sits with Rucker in the audience, Eliot and Tank go at it and Eliot makes it look good at first. Tank starts to beat him and Nate realizes that Rucker drugged Eliot's water the same way he did Mark's. Sophie has Parker get the doctor and warns Rucker that Eliot fights to survive and Rucker has taken off Eliot's restraints. Eliot takes out Tank with a sleeper hold. The doctor tends to Tank while Rucker and Alex get everyone out of the ring. Rucker warns that he's lost all of his money and the doctor tells them that Tank is dead. Rucker asks the doctor to hush it up but he refuses. He then goes to his safe and takes out what little money he has, and warns Alex that he can be up for manslaughter charges.

Once Rucker leaves, the team confirms he's gone and the team calls the police. The doctor tells them that Tank will come around in a few minutes. He injected Tank with a paralytic. Nate explains to Jack that they figured Rucker would use the same drugged water trick. The doctor is Jon, who worked for the Howorths. Parker planted guns in Rucker's trunk, and Hardison has sent a report on Rucker's financials to the IRS about all of his undeclared cash. As for Rucker's bet, Hardison made sure that he took all the bets by pretending to be the bookies. Jack notes that Eliot took a lot of punishment and Sophie admits that punishment is what Eliot takes.

The team turns the gym over to the Howorths and gives them the chance to run it the right way, using the bet money they took from Rucker. As Jack and Mark start making plans, the team slips away and Sophie tries some pork rinds.
