• 'Knight Rider' nearing the end of its road? |
Inside sources are now saying that NBC's Knight Rider remake is about to get totaled. I'm told the network has cut the series' original order by four episodes, slating its final hour to air February 25th, and though they're not commenting on the show's future, word is, there isn't one. And with that, KITT will go back into retirement for real this time.

| I'll have to be the arse here and says, finally! Too many great shows (Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone just to name two most recent) had been canceled and yet Knight Rider lived on. |

Too bad, I like the flashy car and flashy chick ... maybe if they'd broken the mold a bit more ...
While the show was quite different from the original mold, they could have broken the traditional TV-Show mold and instead put the two main characters actually IN a relationship, rather than the flirting around and unsure, etc ... etc ...
We've seen it way too much in other shows, why not do something a bit more ... also, the show is still serialized, meaning, a story a week ... no overall storyline. The nice thing about the very first episode (or the TV movie) was it built up some possibilities for a great ongoing storyline ... today's TV viewers MOSTLY gravitate towards the shows with an ongoing story. While you can sit down and watch an episode of The Office or Law and Order at any time, without having seen the previous episode to understand it, you can't do the same for E.R., Grey's Anatomy or Heroes ...
In some ways, this show was a modernized re-make, but in too many other ways, it was poorly written and poorly conceptualized. They needed someone with a bit more vision and depth at the helm. The acting and individual stories were actually very good, and the comedy between the two tech's and KITT's own humor were great, but the show is definitely missing something.
Eli Stone however, was just in a bad time slot and never really given a chance ... unfortunately. |
