America's Test Kitchen is part of my Saturday morning routine. I love this show because they take recipes everyone knows (like chicken Parmesan, meat loaf, pasta Alfredo, etc.) and find ways to make them better. They provide examples of bad recipes at the beginning of each episode and show you what a bad version of the dish looks like, then go about preparing the dish with their modifications to improve it. They also have an equipment corner and a taste-testing lab to show you what products and ingredients are preferred in each recipe.
Christopher Kimball, while dorky, is quite smarmy and entertaining. His two chefs, Bridget and Julia, put Chris in his place while preparing the dishes, and the banter among the cast while they work feels natural and easygoing. It's not a sophisticated cooking show, but everything they make looks delicious and appealing.
