The show seemed kind of fun, but the plot holes are glaring. Surely somebody with an IQ greater than Einstein would think of writing a file to a USB stick and dropping it from the plane - a lot simpler and more likely to succeed than running a cable from a plane in the air to a car!

Or get a phone with a data connection - they could have asked the other passengers to turn their phones on, once they got thru to the first one.
