| » Things that scared the heck out of me when I was a kid |
Since Halloween just passed, it got me thinking about this, and I felt like making a list. There's no way I could include everything, but these are just some things that come to mind first. Maybe I'll think of more later.
The Crypt Keeper
A long time ago, there was this store (Spencer's Gift's) in the local mall that use to be put a gigantic model of him by the door. His eyes would light up red and he would talk every time someone walked by the store. I had to close my eyes whenever we walked passed him. I don't think I've ever been that afraid to walk by a store in my life.
Unsolved Mysteries
This is one of my all time favorite show, but when I was little I couldn't bare it for 5 seconds. The theme music was enough to make me crap myself. And then, to top that all off, Robert Stack was hosting it. His voice alone could've sent me running.
Ursula
I liked the Little Mermaid, but when I went to Disneyland and saw Ursula the Sea Witch up close and in person, it was just too much.
Chucky
Child's Play is really lame, but this terrified me the first time I saw it. It made me think my toys were going to come to life and kill me in my sleep.
Aliens
Gigantic black eyes that stare right through you. It didn't help that I would constantly watch the UFO and Alien documentaries.
The X-Files
This was on the same level as Unsolved Mysteries. The theme song scared me AND it was about aliens, in some episodes.
Clown Dolls
This is a picture of the clown doll from Poltergeist. What's scary about it you ask? I use to have a doll that looked EXACTLY like this in my room....then I saw the movie.
You do the math. (Like Chucky wasn't bad enough!)
The Dark
I don't really think I need a picture for this one...
Every little kid is afraid of the dark. I couldn't even walk down the hallway unless the light was on. And I refused to sleep with the light on too. I always think this one's weird, since I was more afraid of the dark when I was a kid, and not as much when I was a toddler.

Most of your pictures aren't showing up. Of course, the Chucky one did. *shakes fist* But I just watched Poltergeist the other day, so I remember that friggin' clown doll very well. I thought the Crypt Keeper was funny when I was little; I liked to imitate his cackling. As for the dark, I'm still scared of it. |

| Oh, your pictures are showing up now! I guess it was just my computer being stupid. |

Oh man, I'm with you on the Unsolved Mysteries. Stack creeped the heck out of me. I always felt like I couldn't sleep with the lights off after that show aired. |

| I was afraid of clowns in general when I was little, but what I was most afraid of was silence. And still, it's never silent where I am. |

Speaking of scary clowns, remember Zeebo from Are You Afraid of the Dark?

| He first appeared in episode 2, "The Tale of Laughing in the Dark," which you can watch on YouTube. He also showed up in season three's "The Tale of the Crimson Clown," but I don't remember that one as well. |

| I remember my nephew when he was 3 or so, walked into a Toys R Us store and just inside the door was a six foot tall mechanical clown. He had a fit, screaming and refused to ever go in that store....maybe that is why it closed after only a few years at the mall? |
