Christian and Johnny go to Wolfe's cell, and Christian looks in and sees Wolfe restrained on the floor under the Drainer. Johnny tells Christian to kill Wolfe so he can get his powers back, and he'll get them both out.
Earlier
At a bar, Christian tells Deena that he blames himself for everyone who died, and figures that it's ego on his part. He's finally accepted that Wolfe is the one responsible for all of the dead bodies, and tells his partner that he's going to help Johnny kill Wolfe. A shocked Deena wonders why Christian is telling her what he's going to do, and he says that he needs her help. She insists that she has to report it to their superiors, and Christian points out that they've got Johnny now that he invited him to participate in a conspiracy to commit murder. However, he has to help Johnny break into The Shaft to make the charge stick.
Six Days Ago
Christian meets Johnny at an abandoned industrial park, and Johnny teleports him a brief hop to negate any wires that he's wearing. Johnny doesn't want to get into who is to blame for the Kidz having Sway, and Christian says that he's tired of being an ineffectual cop when he could be what he once was: a Power. Seemingly satisfied that Christian is onboard, Johnny tells him that he needs Christian to sabotage the sensors so he can teleport in without giving away his presence. He also needs up-to-date blueprints of The Shaft.
Later, Christian meets with Deena, Cross, and Triphammer. He says that they need to catch Johnny in the act, and Triphammer suggests using the Drainer to immobilize Johnny. He warns that his one-shot pulse gun isn't ready, and Deena says that they need to create a Drainer trap and lure Johnny in. Triphammer has the transportation pod but warns that he'll have to overload it to project a beam. The beam could possibly kill a Power, drain them permanently at the very least. Christian points out that Wolfe's cell already has a drainer, but Triphammer refuses to take the risk. Cross says that they have to explain, and Triphammer points to his Black Swan projections and tells Christian and Deena that the world is going to end soon.
Hours Ago...
Johnny teleports Christian into The Shaft, and Christian points toward what he claims is Wolfe's cell. The teleporter suspects a trap but Christian says that there is no trap and he's right. He walks off and Johnny follows him. In the control room, Deena and the others monitor their progress. Triphammer warns that they still have blind spots from Wolfe's escape, but it's only dangerous if someone knows about them.
Christian leads Johnny to the panel they need to access to shut down the sensors. There's a security camera trained on it, and Christian says that Johnny is the only one of them that can reach it via teleportation. Johnny warns that if it's a trap it had better be a fast one, or he'll teleport out and kill Christian. He teleports over, shutting down the cameras for five seconds, and then attaches a gadget to redirect the cameras to a different but identical level.
Six Days Ago
Triphammer explains that in a very short time, a Power will manifest who is powerful enough to destroy humanity. He figures that Wolfe is a forerunner and refuses to risk his escape, and Christian tells them that Sway is Wolfe's distilled blood. Christian says that he needs to get Johnny to trust him by providing him with the blueprints to The Shaft. Triphammer reluctantly gets out the plans and shows them the three damaged segments around Wolfe's shell.
Later, Christian shows Johnny the blueprints and points out the blind spots. His plan is to teleport in, attach the device to redirect the cameras to a different but identical level. Johnny points out that his teleportation flux will scramble the device, and Christian says that Triphammer shielded it because he told the inventor, Cross, and Deena that he's helping Johnny break in to kill Wolfe. When the teleporter grabs him, Christian says that he needs their help and they'll only do it if they think they can capture Johnny in the act. Talking for his life, Christian says that the world would be a better place if he had his powers. Convinced that Christian wants to get his powers back, Johnny accepts his story and lets him go.
Four Days Ago
A guard escorts Johnny and Patrice to Simons' cell and Johnny meets with him alone. A sedated Simons wonders why Johnny hasn't gotten him out, and Johnny says that he can't. Johnny says that he needs hi to stay in there because he trusts him.
Earlier, Johnny and Patrice serve Cross with a warrant to visit Calista. Cross calls Deena over to release Calista. When Johnny reminds her that she has nothing on Calista, Deena tosses the keys down, says that she can't do it, and walks away. Christian lets Calista out and she leaves with Johnny and Patrice. Deena goes to the morgue and Christian follows her, and she insists that she played her part. She wonders what else Johnny is going to want that they have to give him to keep him unsuspecting. Christian points out that she was the one who said that partners should trust each other.
Four Days Ago
At Candace's funeral during the service, Krispin tells Christian that if he had done his job then Candace would still be alive. While Krispin walks off, Calista and Johnny watch from a distance. Calista says that it's a bad idea to be there, but she still wants to talk to Krispin. Meanwhile, Christian goes after Krispin and assures him that they locked up Red Hawk. Krispin insists that Zora and Retro Girl should be locked up as well, because Candace died as part of the publicity stunt they were involved with. He figures that the two women are free because they look better on camera, and Christian warns Krispin that he's implicated in Jump Striker's murder. When he says that he's trying to make things better, Krispin tells him to kill Red Hawk if he wants to make things better.
Calista comes over and offers her condolences, and hugs Krispin as he breaks into tears. However, Krispin sees Johnny waiting and screams at Calista to get away from him. He walks off and Calista goes after him, and Johnny teleports over to Christian. When Christian wonders what they're doing, Johnny says that they're protecting Calista and Krispin.
Two Days Ago
At his condo, Christian makes sure that everything looks good and then lets Retro Girl in. He says that he went to Candace's funeral, and assures Retro Girl that she's not the reason the woman died. Christian pours some wine and says that Retro Girl did her job by stopping Zora from killing Red Hawk. Retro Girl asks why he didn't call her in eight years after he lost his powers, and says that they could have talked about everything like they always did. Christian finally admits that he didn't want her to see him as a powerless man, and Retro Girl says that she didn't want him because of his powers and kisses him on the cheek.
Later, Christian meets Cross, Deena, and Triphammer for drinks and admits that he's been playing them to get his powers back. He explains that he caught Wolfe after taking Sway, but he lost his powers when the Drainer came back on. Christian says that Johnny knows and that he told the Power that he's playing them. Deena wonders why they should trust him, and Christian warns that everyone who took Sway is at risk. Triphammer suggests that they let Johnny kill Wolfe since it will remove two threats. Cross insists that they stick to the plan to bust Johnny and drain Wolfe permanently, and Deena asks Christian what he's going to do about his powers. Christian says that he's let it go because it's too risky to go for them, and he wants to bust Johnny before anyone else dies.
As Christian and Deena leave, Christian insists that they stick with his plan because Deena's didn't work. She points out that they have to play by the rules, but admits that she's there because she's Christian's partner.
Minutes Ago...
Christian and Johnny go through the blind spots. Johnny says that he has to leave for a moment and teleports to Simons' cell. After knocking out the guard, Johnny frees Simons. Simons releases clones of himself and they run off to cause chaos. Johnny assures the prime Simons that he already trusted him, and Simons asks if Calista is okay. Once Johnny tells him that she is, he goes to join his clones. Johnny teleports back to Christian, says that he has a plan going in case Christian's friends aren't as gullible as Christian believes, and teleports the two of them away.
In the control room, the technician spots the Simons clones. Triphammer deploys suppression units to all levels, and Deena prepares to leave for Level 9 where Wolfe is being held. Triphammer tells the technician to keep Level 13 secure and goes with her and Cross.
Simons and a clone knock out two guards and take their equipment. A technician announces over the radios that Level 13 protocols are in place.
A suppression unit arrives on Level 9. Johnny teleports faster than they can see, taking their guns, and then teleports them all to a deserted beach. He returns to The Shaft and assures Christian that he took care of the situation, and tells Christian to focus on getting his powers.
Two Days Ago
Triphammer shows Christian, Cross, and Deena the plans for a fake Drainer that he created. He then gives Christian a shielded remote for the hidden Drainer unit in Wolfe's cell. Wolfe will be sedated so he can't do anything while the fake Drainer is on, but he'll start waking up as soon as he regains his powers.
Now
Johnny and Christian arrive at Red Hawk's cell, and Johnny asks Christian if there's anything he wants to do to the captive Power. Christian says that he doesn't, just as two helmeted soldiers arrive and capture them. Two more soldiers arrive and tase the first two, and remove their helmets to reveal that their Simons clones. Simons puts a knife to Christian's throat and says that Christian killed him, and Johnny points out that now Christian helped free him. After a moment, Simons lowers the knife and says that he's cleared the level, and Johnny tells him to absorb his clones and they'll pick him up when he's finished.
Once the Simons leave, Christian and Johnny enter the antechamber. Christian seals the doors and says that Simons wasn't part of the deal. Johnny tells him that he isn't convinced that Christian's friends believe him so he gave them something to worry about, and asks Christian if he trusts him. Christian opens the door to Wolfe's cell and invites Johnny to go ahead and shoot Wolfe in the head. When Johnny hesitates, Christian asks for the gun. Johnny takes out the gun but admits that he had the chance to kill Wolfe before but couldn't do it. He gives the gun to Christian and they go to Wolfe's cell.
Deena, Cross, and Triphammer arrive on Level 9 and discover that Christian has locked the door to the antechamber. Triphammer figures that something is wrong and starts bypassing the circuits.
Christian shuts down the fake Drainer and enters Wolfe's cell with Johnny. However, he activates the real Drainer and aims the revolver at Johnny. Johnny tells him to pull the trigger, and asks him to look after Calista. Christian handcuffs him and Johnny says that there's still time for Christian to kill Wolfe and blame it on him. Ignoring Johnny's advice, Christian pistol-whips him unconscious and shuts down the Drainer. He pulls Wolfe up and realizes that it's a different man, and sonic screamers go off as the Drainer comes back on.
Deena and the others come in and shut down the screamers, and say that they have Wolfe under control. Triphammer calls Level 13 and confirms that Wolfe is secure in the transportation pod, and tells them to move him back to his regular cell. Deena tells Christian that they couldn't trust him, and Johnny laughs.
As the suppression unit prepares to move Wolfe, SImons and his clone come in and kill them. As they wonder what to do next, another unit calls on the radio to report that Johnny is in custody. Simons opens the pod and absorbs his clone, and tells Wolfe that they got Johnny. Wolfe gets out of the pod and asks Simons why he smells like him, and then drains Simons' power and his life.
Christian and the others arrive on Level 13 and Wolfe attacks them. He knocks Triphammer and Cross aside, and stuns Christian by draining him via their Sway connection. Deena draws her gun and Wolfe says that he doesn't want blood on himself anymore, his or hers. The detective lowers her gun and Wolfe considers eating Christian, but then says that there's nothing left to eat. As he enters the elevator, Wolfe tells Christian to get Johnny so that he can speak to them both.
