Terry O'Quinn (birth name - Terrance Quinn) was born on July 15, 1952 in Newberry, Michigan. Terry went to University of Iowa, and then took some roles in the 70' s in films such as Tombstone and Heaven's Gate. He had guest television appearances on Earth 2, Moonlighting, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and JAG.

TV producer J.J. Abrams gave him a recurring role on the show Alias in 2002, and he did 7 episodes of The West Wing in 2003 and 2004. Abrams cast him in LOST, without an audition. In July 2005, Terry was nominated for an Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama for his portrayal of LOST's Island mystery man, John Locke.

Terry and his wife, Lori, have been married for 25 years. They at one time made their home in Finksburg, Maryland, but after he was cast in LOST, they decided to move to Hawaii, where the show is shot. Terry & his wife have two sons.
