Paul's career started with the National Youth Music Theater at age 11. He then moved on to the Edinburgh Festival. After a few years he returned to the NYMT.

In the mid '90's he was featured in numerous commercials, the most notable being the Virgin Atlantic Grim Reaper Commercial.

Paul's first big roll was in the Oscar winning Bollywood production of Lagaan playing Captain Russell.

In 2002 Paul was cast as Dr Matt Slingerland in Presidio Med. He had several smaller rolls in shows like ER, Medium, Monk, Deadwood and a recurring roll in 24. He also acted in a few independent films, during this time.

In 2007 he played the title character Harry Dresden in The Dresden Files. Currently he can be seen in the series Big Shots and in 2008 will be acting with Brook Shields in NBC's Lipstick Jungle.

Next year he will be in the Robert Zemeckis production of a Christmas Carol.

Paul is also a professional photographer and his work has been featured in several shows.
