Maureen Maher has contributed to 48 HOURS MYSTERY since 2003. She has reported on the Scott Peterson murder trial and the tragic June 2003 Chicago porch collapse, among other stories.
Previously, Maher was a correspondent for CBS News (1999-2002) and was based in Dallas. She reported primarily for the CBS EVENING NEWS and covered the war on terror, including the fall of the Taliban in Afghanistan, the hotel bombing in Kenya, the Enron corporate scandal and wildfires and hurricanes in the United States.
Before that, Maher was a correspondent for CBS NEWSPATH (1997-99), the affiliate news service, and was based in Chicago. She covered many major stories, including the impeachment of President Clinton and the crisis in Kosovo, reporting from Germany on the release of the U.S. servicemen and from the refugee camps in Albania.
Maher was a morning anchor and reporter for WJRT-TV Flint, Mich. (1995-97), where she covered live breaking news, including the Oklahoma City bombing and the Decker farm raid. She was a reporter for WJBK-TV Detroit and an anchor and reporter for WWJ-AM, the CBS Owned radio station in Detroit (1992-95). She began her broadcasting career at WLUW-FM Chicago as morning drive news anchor (1991-92).
Maher was born outside Detroit. She was graduated from Loyola University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. Maher lives in Chicago with her husband.
