Jessica Alba was born on April 28, 1981, in Pomona, California. By the age of 5, Jessica was already dreaming of becoming an actress. She took her first acting lessons at the age of 12 and just nine months later she was signed by an agent.
In 1993, Jessica made her feature film debut in
Camp Nowhere. She was originally hired for only 2 weeks, but got a lucky break when the lead actress dropped out. Jessica appeared in commercials for Nintendo and JC Penney after she finished filming
Camp Nowhere. She branched out into television in 1994 with a recurring role in
The Secret World of Alex Mack. She then played the role of Maya in the TV show
Flipper.
By 1999, Jessica Alba was getting more popular and recognized. She appeared in a great number of magazines throughout America. She played a supporting role in the movie
Never Been Kissed, alongside Drew Barrymore. The year 2000 was the breakout year for Jessica. She was chosen to play the main character Max in the hit TV series,
Dark Angel. The show gained a devout fan following and went on to air for two seasons in total.
In 2001, Jessica appeared at the People's Choice Awards ceremony and at the Golden Globe Awards, where she was nominated for best actress in a dramatic television series. She is currently focusing on her career in film.
In 2005, Jessica was seen in two comic book adapted film,
Sin City and
Fantastic Four. The two films eventually became her top two current box-office hits of her career. She played the erotic dancer Nancy Callahan in
Sin City, which went on to gross over $74 million in the U.S. In
Fantastic Four. she played the Invisible Woman Susan Storm, which made over $154 million at the U.S. box office.
