A native of Seattle, Washington, Zimmer spent much of her childhood in Santa Monica and Newport Beach. She decided to pursue a career in acting after she fell in love with the craft as a high school student. Once out of high school, Zimmer was accepted at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, and began appearing in local theater. She was the recipient of a "Best Actress" Dramalogue Award, for one of her first stage appearances in "Catholic School Girls".
Zimmer booked her first TV guest-starring roles on the hit shows, "Seinfeld" (1990) and "Ellen" (1994). Working steadily ever since, one of Zimmer's most notable characters is "Dana Gordon" in "Entourage" (2004) on HBO. She recently co-starred with Greg Grunberg in the NBC comedy series, "Love Bites" (2011). Zimmer has also had series regular roles on "Good Morning, Miami" (2002) for NBC, "In Justice" (2006) and "Boston Legal" (2004) for ABC, and has recurred on many shows, including "The New Adventures of Old Christine" (2006) for CBS.
Feature film credits include Demoted (2011), opposite Sean Astin and Michael Vartan, the Warner Bros. feature "Chaos Theory" (2008), starring Ryan Reynolds and Emily Mortimer and, most recently, "The Babymakers" (2012), opposite Paul Schneider and Olivia Munn.
