NBC again won Thursday in all measures.
Night eight of the Sochi Winter Olympics earned a 5.9 demo and a total audience of almost 23 million viewers. While this number is up decently from last night, it's slightly down from last Thursday, and (as has become the pattern this year) is way, way down from the 7.1 earned on the same night in 2010.
Elsewhere, 'American Idol' dropped a tenth from last Thursday, posting a 2.9. This is also down considerably from last night's 3.4. Still, 'Idol' really isn't doing too poorly, all things considered. In the three times it has directly competed with the Winter Games (2006, 2010, and now 2014), 'Idol' has taken much, much bigger hits.
Finally, week four of the Greg Kinnear fronted 'Rake' actually managed to match the rating it earned last week. That sounds impresssive, until you consider that last week only garnered a 1.1. I've been saying it since the premiere, and I'll reiterate it now. Don't get used to 'Rake,' it's not going to be around much longer. Also, ABC's 'The Taste' remained in its usual dismal range, posting a 0.9.
