Laurence Fishburne is keeping himself pretty busy these days. Not only does he play FBI Special Agent Jack Crawford on NBC's 'Hannibal,' but now the actor has officially joined the cast of ABC's upcoming comedy pilot 'Black-ish' in a recurring role, TVLine reports.
Written by Kenya Barris ('The Game') and loosely based on his own personal experiences, the pilot will center around an upper-middle class black man struggling to raise his children with a sense of cultural identity despite constant contradictions and obstacles coming from his liberal wife, old school father, and his own assimilated, color-blind kids.
Anthony Anderson will star as the lead, while Fishburne will recur as the aforementioned "old school father." He will also serve as one of the series' executive producers alongside Anderson and Barris as well as Helen Sugland, Tom Russo, Peter Principato, Paul Young, and Brian Dobbins.
It's an exciting project that Fishburne will no doubt thrive in. Let's just hope this news doesn't serve as a foreshadowing of his demise on 'Hannibal.' As recent teasers have already proven, things get more than a little heated between Dr. Lecter and Agent Crawford. Perhaps he doesn't make it out of that fight all in one piece.
This notion becomes even more prominent when considering that he's also nabbed the leading role in the upcoming HBO drama series 'The Right Mistake.'
But, just to play devil's advocate, many stars have been able to juggle multiple shows at the same time. So if/when the NBC thriller gets picked up for a third season, it's entirely possible Fishburne could find the time for all three. Who needs sleep, right?
