More insanity and more hilarity is on its way to IFC, as the network announced that 'Comedy Bang! Bang!' will return for a third season.
As host Scott Aukerman noted in response to the renewal announcement, "They say the best things come in threes: celebrity deaths, Hobbit movies — and now, seasons of 'Comedy Bang! Bang!'"
The series mixes tongue-in-cheek celebrity interviews with absurd sketch comedy in the vein of 'Upright Citizens Brigade' and 'Mr. Show.' Aukerman helms the ship as host, mixing it up with guests and bandleader Reggie Watts. It is a spin-off of the popular, long-running Earwolf.com podcast, which is approaching its milestone 200th episode. This writer heartily recommends the audio podcast if you're a fan of improv comedy, as both it and its IFC counterpart feature the cream of the crop of the comedy world, from Zach Galifianakis to Amy Poehler to Jason Mantzoukas.
"For two great seasons, Scott has brought some of the biggest names in entertainment to the Comedy Bang Bang couch and delivered a truly unique, funny and entertaining experience to IFC viewers," said IFC president Jennifer Caserta of the renewal. "We can't wait for another season of a show that fits IFC's comedic sensibility so well."
The second half of the current season will resume on Oct. 18, with guest Rainn Wilson ('The Office').
Of course, the show would be nothing without its behind-the-scenes crew -- let's join host Scott Aukerman as he salutes the people that make the magic happen:
