Fans were heartbroken when 24 announced the eighth season would be its last. The action-packed Fox show was popular with all ages because it always left viewers hanging. Despite doubt from many fans, it’s official- 24 will make a jump to the big screen.
The movie adaptation is set to film this spring with a screenplay from State of Play’s Billy Ray. Mark Bomback joined the writing team to tweak the screenplay to perfection. Bomback is best known for his help on The Wolverine and Live Free or Die Hard.
Despite the controversy of whether the movie would happen or not, Tony Scott was set to direct the flick, but has since dropped out. There’s five other directors being considered, but no official word on who has the honor. Have no fear diehard fans, Kiefer Sutherland WILL be back to play Jack Bauer.
Hopefully the film will do what the first Sex and the City Film did- attract new fans, while adding to the franchise.
If 24 can get a film to follow up on the story, does this mean that Veronica Mars fans will be next? Fans have been working for years to petition, alongside star Kirsten Bell, for a jump to big (or small) screen to complete the story. There’s nothing worse than investing three years, or longer, into a show and never finding out how it ends. Though networks see the show as a flop, fans are loyal and want answers!
