Maura Tierney will co-star with Dominic West and Ruth Wilson in the Showtime drama, ‘The Affair.’
Tierney’s credits include ‘News Radio,’ ‘Rescue Me,’ ‘ER,’ and the movie ‘Liar, Liar.’ Tierney will play Helen, the wife of husband Noah, played by Dominic West (‘The Wire’).
The show will be about how two couples handle an affair, and all the problems and drama that comes along with it. Tierney will play the college sweetheart of Noah, who has her life ripped open as Noah meets a new woman and falls in love. Like West, Noah’s new lover will be played by another Brit, Ruth Wilson (‘Luther’). Wilson will play Alison, a married woman working in a pancake house who is dealing with a recent tragedy. Noah will try to convince Alison that they can live a new life together.
Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi, who produced ‘In Treatment’ together, are also producing ‘The Affair’ together. Treem wrote the pilot script, and has previously written episodes for Netflix’s ‘House of Cards.’
The show will be told from both a male and female perspectives of the affair. The premise—and the description of the back and forth narrative—makes it sound like there will be constant persuasions over who is truly sympathetic. It could very well be an emotional ride.
The only other main character left to cast is the husband of Alison. Is there an actor you would like to see cast alongside this trio of Tierney, West, and Wilson?
