The long-hyped, long-in-development next installment of Batman on the small screen is finally coming: 'Beware the Batman' is set to debut on Cartoon Network on July 13 at 10:00am EST.
A fully CGI animated series, 'Beware the Batman' is a new take on the DC Comics Caped Crusader, featuring familiar characters with slight twists on their familiar story. For instance, in 'Beware the Batman,' Batman's trusted butler Alfred Pennyworth is also an ex-covert intelligence operative. The series also marks the first appearance on television of several DC Comics characters, including Katana, an ally to Batman who recently got her own ongoing comic book series in the DC Universe.
Also, 'Beware the Batman' seems to be launching with stories about the lesser-known members of Batman's vaunted rogues gallery. The villains appearing in the sizzle reel video below include Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Should the series become a success I'm sure we'll eventually see the likes of The Joker and Two-Face, but for now this seems to be a new take on some characters new to television.
'Beware the Batman' stars Anthony Ruivivar ('Banshee') as Bruce Wayne/Batman with J.B. Blanc ('The Count of Monte Cristo') as Alfred Pennyworth. 'Beware the Batman' is the latest new series to join Cartoon Network's successful DC Nation block of programming. DC Nation is a group of shows and shorts based on DC Comics properties that air on Saturday mornings on Cartoon Network. The block also includes 'Teen Titans Go!' which was recently renewed for another season.
