TLC is looking to add to their existing Amish-themed lineup of shows. ‘Breaking Amish: Brave New World,’ which currently airs, is the sequel to the original series, following five former members of the Amish and Mennonite communities as they continue their quest to rediscover themselves. TLC’s sister channel, Discovery, also airs 'Amish Mafia.'
On Sunday, July 21st, TLC will air ‘Breaking Amish: LA,’ following a new cast of five as they head west to California. Like the original series, this one will follow four Amish and one Mennonite (above, from left to right: Devon, Lizzie, Iva, Betsy and Matthew).
The new cast does feature a familiar face, however. Those who watched the original series will recognize Iva as Jeremiah’s ex-girlfriend, who he split with before going to New York. Fans of the series can only speculate as to whether Jeremiah--who friends even describe as a bit of an instigator--will appear on the new show to stir things up.
Like the previous series, we can expect to see many attempts of self-discovery with the young cast. Per TLC’s press release, the new show will feature, “brighter skies - and darker secrets - as the cast leave their homes and venture west to live together under one roof, experiencing a lot of 'firsts' along the way.”
TLC looks to rekindle some of the success of the original series as ‘Brave New World’ has dipped in ratings this year.
