Ken Marino and wife Erica Oyama are going back to school!
Fox announced that it has tapped the husband and wife comedy writers to script the network's university-centric pilot "True Freshman." The project is described as a cross between "Revenge of the Nerds" and "Animal House," as it centers on a group of students attempting to rebuild their Ivy League school's struggling athletics program to its former glory.
Oyama is perhaps best known for her behind the scenes work, serving as a writer on Adult Swim's "Childrens Hospital" and the web series "Burning Love," both of which feature her husband. Marino is featured in not only the aforementioned series, but also numerous film projects ("Wanderlust," "For a Good Time, Call...") and television series ("The League," "The State"). He has also written several features such as the Paul Rudd hit "Role Models," and most recently teamed with wife Oyama on the script for the upcoming Fox film "Go The F To Sleep."
Obviously, Fox executives must have liked the end result, as the writing duo will pen the comedy pilot, to be produced by Ted Field ("Riddick") and Shawn Levy of 21 Laps. If Marino and Oyama's past writing credits are any indication, viewers should be in for a treat with this campus comedy.
