NBC and the NFL today confirmed that Madonna will perform during the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday February 5th and will no doubt be watched by an obscene amount of people in the process.
Speculation has been rife for months that the ageless performer would be making her debut at the biggest sporting occasion of the year. Madonna will work in conjunction with a team from Cirque du Soleil, who Madge has frequently worked with, Jamie King, her creative director/choreographer and multimedia artists from Moment Factory.
Madonna continues NFLs trend of signing artists who are deemed slighly older than contemporary artists, who appeal outside the adults 18-49 demographic, which has included The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Prince, Paul McCartney and U2.
Madonna is currently working on her 12th studio album which will be released in the summer of 2012, with her performance at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis destined to gain the world leading female pop star even more exposure.
