Are you ready to see some history tonight? No, I am not talking about The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones.
You see, this evening Machinima, a YouTube entertainment network aimed at video gamers, will air an ad during AMC's The Talking Dead. This will apparently be the first ad ever aired on television for a YouTube channel.
The 60-second commercial will be for Mortal Kombat: Legacy 2, a live-action online series that airs on the channel and is based off of the video game series. It is the follow up to Mortal Kombat: Legacy, which is one of the most-viewed series in YouTube history, with more than 60 million total views thus far. The series features actors Actors include Cary Tagawa (Mortal Kombat - The Movie), Harry Shum Jr. (Glee), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Brian Tee (The Wolverine), Mark Dacascos (Cradle 2 the Grave) and Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-O).
"We wanted to promote it in a way that would break through the fog of familiarity," said Machinima executive vice president of marketing Kevin Doohan. "Connecting to a television event like The Walking Dead season finale, a show that our fans are deeply passionate about, will introduce millions more viewers to Machinima."
Are you excited to see the commercial?
