The Duplass brothers have reached back into their history to find one of the leads for their new HBO comedy pilot, Togetherness.
Steve Zissis, who appeared in their films Baghead, Do-Deca Pentathlon, Cyrus and Jeff, Who Lives at Home, has signed on to play one of the two male leads in the series, which looks at two couples who live under the same roof as they struggle to keep their relationships together while still trying to manage their individual goals and dreams.
He will play Alex Pappas, a thirty-something actor who has lived in Los Angeles for 20 years and now finds himself homeless, with only one friend - Brett - still sticking by his side.
Mark and Jay Duplass will be writing, executive producing and directing the pilot. Neither man will appear on screen (they are both actors). Stephanie Langhoff will co-executive produce the pilot.
Melanie Lunskey will also be co-starring, as one of the females in the couples.
Zissis has worked besides just appearing in Duplass brothers projects. He has appeared on The Office, Parks and Recreation, Private Practice and The League (which stars Mark).
What do you make of this series? Does it sound like something you would watch? I like the Duplass brother’s projects and will give this an episode or two.
