The time has come to support your favorite singers. The 2012 Grammy Award nominations are in - and they are startling. Want to know who's on top, who's on bottom and who didn't make the cut? Read all about it here.
The singer who snagged the most nominations is none other than Kayne West. Holding the most nominations, seven in all, he will be hard to beat as he he keeps the beat with popular songs such as, "All of the Lights." Soulful crooner, Adele, alternative rock band, Foo Fighters, and solo singer, Bruno Mars all followed close behind the rapper's heels with six nominations each.
For the monster fans out there, don't worry; Lady Gaga is still definitely in the running with her big hit, "Born This Way." She managed to swing two other nominations in the categories, best solo pop performance and best pop vocal album.
Among other artists who shone in the public’s eye are the bands, Coldplay, Maroon 5, Mumford and Sons, and Foster the People. New artists such as Nicki Minaj, Skillrex, The Band Perry and J. Cole all have a shot at scoring a coveted award at the 54th annual show.
There are performers that feel a little slighted however. Beyonce and Britney Spears both were at the bottom of the Grammy totem pole. Beyonce received one nomination and Spears did not receive any. Add to the fact that Justin Bieber only received one nomination for his song, “Born to Be Somebody” under the category, best song written for visual media, and that is adding insult to injury for many teens and in-between fans.
The Grammy Award show will be presented on February 12th, at 8 p.m. on CBS. Since the show will only air there, it’s important you clear your schedule ahead of time (read TiVo) to get a load of all the performances, the outfits, the glitz and glamour of the performers who reap the rewards of the hard work, the sore throats (Adele had surgery on her vocal cords!), and of course the gobs of fame and notoriety (such a hard life).
