The first season of ABC’s “Nashville” keeps rolling; towards what I’m not sure.
Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) gets good PR at a zoo fundraiser from football star Shaun Butler, a Tim Tebow-like character she tries to corrupt. He gets his to go drinking with him, and he proceeds to knock out a paparazzo member who hassled her. She returned the favor by buying the guy off for $25,000.
On a side note, Panettiere’s “Telescope” single has hit the charts, though “How Do You Talk to An Angel” also lasted a lot longer in the 90s than “The Heights,” the show that spawned it.
Rayna (Connie Britton) starts working with producer Liam McGuiness, who at first tells her she’s “moms and SUVs,” and that’s not his thing. He later helps her find her new sound, though the label didn’t want McGuiness to produce.
Teddy and Lamar orchestrate a pullover of Teddy’s opponent Coleman Carlisle (Robert Wisdom) in the election. The Oxys that were found were from Deacon in last week’s episode, which he gave to his sponsor Coleman. I’m just not feeling the whole mayoral race subplot, but Powers Boothe is as slimy as always as Lamar.
Avery (Jonathan Jackson) also kind of rejected the advances of a promoter, which I also was indifferent about. The episode ends with Avery going over to her place
I thought when this show started it was going to be about Rayna and Juliette touring together. That was only suggested earlier in the season, and instead the two women have been living parallel but separate lives, and the show at times has seemed listless. However, it looks like next week they will finally be doing a duet. And that episode won’t be on until Nov. 28, as next week is Thanksgiving Eve, which will likely soon become the start of Black Friday.
