Only two more episodes remain this year for AMC's hit drama "Breaking Bad," and to mark the occasion Betsy Brandt, who plays Skyler's gossiping kleptomaniac sister Marie on the series, sat down to talk with Spinoff Online.
Brandt sums up how she views the main theme of the series well, stating, "It’s always this whole dichotomy of good and evil. Everybody has that side to them; both sides of them. Sometimes you try and be your best self and the demons beat out your angels sometimes, and sometimes the angels win."
While the bulk of this season has been darker and more morose than usual, Brandt's character has been one of the series' few beams of light. "I think [with this season] we’re seeing a better side to Marie and not just Marie’s, you know, not-great side, that people are open to her a little more now." Walt continues down the path to the dark side, as Marie's annoying prying has given way to genuine concern about her sister's well-being. "I think at this point that she’s so worried about her sister that she wants to know what’s going on. She thinks she knows, so I think for now she’s going to let it go, but I don’t know if or how long that will last. I just don’t know."
Brandt even drops hints at the possibility of a trip to the big screen for The One Who Knocks, saying "There’s been some talk about doing a movie after, and there’s actually a really big fantastic director who’s interested in directing a Breaking Bad movie."
Asked to elaborate, the actress pulled a very un-Marie like move and kept mum: "All I’m going to say is, he’s a big name and he’s fantastic and I would be over the moon."
Who do you think would be the best choice to direct a potential "Breaking Bad" big-screen affair?
