David Gest passes away in a London hotel aged 62

David Gest has passed away in a London hotel aged 62.

He was best known for being a music producer and for his appearances on various reality television shows.

He passed away at the Four Seasons hotel in Canary Wharf.

His friend and former bodyguard Imad Handi confirmed the news in a statement saying: "It is with great sadness that I can confirm that David Gest has died today. David was truly larger than life. He was not just a huge talent and a dear friend but a showbiz icon."

David was also the estranged husband of singer Liza Minnelli and a former close friend of Michael Jackson.
