Sid Owen talks about his decision to take part in The Jump. The series sees twelve celebrities taking on some of the most challenging and dangerous winter sports in an effort to be crowned the series champion. The Jump returns on January 31st at 7.30pm on Channel 4.
Why did you say ‘yes’ to doing The Jump?
I’ve always loved skiing, that’s about it. I wanted the challenge and learn to be a better skier and do some scary stuff.
Can you ski?
My skiing is alright. I’ve skied for quite a few years on and off so I’m a capable skier. I wouldn’t say I’m fantastic but I can ski.
Which event are you most looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to the slalom races.
Are you competitive?
I’m not overly competitive.
Are you sporty?
Yes, very. I’ve always played football, I run quite a bit. I’m aiming to beat Linford Christie.
Do you know anyone already who is in this year’s line up?
I know Tina, I know Tamara, I know Sarah. I’ve met Brian a few times. Oh and I know Louisa from Eastenders, we were in it at the same time.
Are you looking forward to being out in Austria and living with the other competitors?
Yeah, I love all that. It will be a nice little family.
