AMC has officially closed on a deal with UK production company Kudos and Channel 4 for the sci-fi drama series ‘Humans.’ The series, which is an adaptation of a Swedish television show called ‘Real Humans,’ was announced by Channel 4 and Xbox Entertainment Studios in April. However, three months later, Microsoft shut down XES and cut 18,000 jobs.
Since then, Channel 4 and Kudos have been seeking a U.S. partner and they have found one in AMC. ”I am proud of the work we have done shepherding Humans to this point, as well as facilitating and ensuring a smooth transition for our friends at Kudos/Shine and Channel 4,” said Xbox Entertainment Studio’s Nancy Tellem. “While we focus on our future plans, given the show’s production timetable and the support required to guarantee a successful co-production with a shared first window, we wanted to make certain the show found the right home now.”
‘Humans’ will be starting production this fall, with a premiere set for 2015. Set in a parallel universe, ‘Humans’ focuses on a suburban family that purchases a refurbished “Synth” (a high-tech robotic servant) with frightening consequences.
