CBS recently announced that actress Jennifer Love Hewitt will be joining the cast of the long running crime drama Criminal Minds in Fall 2014.
Jennifer Love Hewitt will play the role of Kate Callahan, a former FBI agent whose outstanding undercover work landed her a job with the elite Behavior Analysis Unit (BAU).
The former Party of Five star has taken on a number of TV roles in the last few years, most recently on Lifetime's hit TV movie turned series The Client List, which was cancelled after 2 seasons in 2013. Criminal Minds will be Hewitt's second role on a CBS series, as she also starred in the TV show Ghost Whisperer for five seasons before its end in 2010.
The 10th season of Criminal Minds air at 9:00PM on October 1, and CBS says that Hewitt's new character will be introduced right off the bat in the season premiere.
I'm going to give the new season a try just to see if the introduction of JLH changes how I feel about the show. I was a long time fan but then a number of similar shows (dealing with the motives of the killer and forming profiles and the like) came along but these had just a single person doing all the work and getting the results. From then on I couldn't look at the BAU team without thinking "do they REALLY need so many people, like, seriously?!"
And the big, highly paid (s)ex symbol joins the show, This was not the way to go, the established female stars (mostly AJ as zwixxx correctly stated) will leave, and the best cop show on tv will finally come to an end.
As long as AJ Cook never leaves the show again, I will be happy!!
Also, this "news" is over a week old. It almost feels like TV Rage has taken a bit of a summer vacation recently. I might have to start going elsewhere for my up to date TV news.
She is not a "big movie star" anymore hasn't been in like 10 plus years.
