LeVar Burton isn’t giving up when it comes to ‘Reading Rainbow,’ as he wants to bring the popular children's program back as a web series to continue encouraging children to read.

He recently launched a Kickstarter campaign and has 35 days to reach his goal of $1,000,000. Well, according to the site and as of this publishing, he’s raised over $1.6 million and has over 35,000 backers.
"Over the past year, I have watched Kickstarter bring communities together to support artists and inventors,” Burton writes on the website. “Again and again, I have been inspired by watching like-minded people team up to accomplish impossible dreams, and to change the world. Now, I am hoping you will join me on my mission: to bring ‘Reading Rainbow’ back for every child, everywhere."
Originally airing on PBS, ‘Reading Rainbow’ ran from 1983 until it was canceled in 2006, but continued to air reruns until 2009.
