Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think.

I believe the writers union are looking to get a share of DVD sales and other digital media sales but the group they attempted to negotiate with (the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) didn't want to budge.

A lot has to do with shows being made available online now along with the stuff you listed. I'm glad a watch a lot of sports

The issue is the residuals. Writers get next to nothing, so if anything happens to them, they have nothing to fall back on. (Say for instance they have a baby or get sick.)

This E!Online article about actors calling in sick is pretty interesting.

The gist: Sally Field walked out of Brothers & Sisters, Shonda Rimes refuses to edit already filmed episode of Grey's Anatomy, and The Office production has pretty much grinded to a halt.

Well, the networks could always order in from Canada. (the WGC has the full support of the WGA though).

What they should do if the strike doesn't end soon (but I hope it does...life would end without Heroes and Boston Legal)...instead of all these crappy reality shows, air episodes of shows they never aired like "Knights of Prosperity", "Help Me Help You", "Clubhouse", etc.

So far this has yet to affect any of the shows I watch. Crossing my fingers that doesn't happen.

It's a good thing I don't watch those shows listed. The writers of shows have a lot of power, imagine if all writers on all shows decided to strike. What would happen to our entertaintment. We'd be stuck with re-runs.

That's exactly what's happening. All writers in the writer's union (which includes at least writers for all scripted shows) have stopped writing anything. The reason only some series are being listed as affected is because others have scripts written in advance and non-writer cast and crew are still showing up to take those episodes to the final version.

Here's a grid showing how many scripts have been written for many shows.

Even if he goes crazy, I will still call Chris "Superman"

Can't believe 24 isn't going to air at ALL this season. Between the writer's strike and Keifer's jail time, they don't think they can get it ready in time.
