It might be somewhere else, but when you add a guest star, whats the difference between guest star and starring role in that section? |

i don't think Starring Role has ever been fully qualified. My understanding is that its primarily intended purpose is for use in anthologies, where each episode has its own unique "Stars." However, very few editors use it that way. Myself including.
I've seen it used for people who don't get a show star credit, but still appear pretty regularly. I've used it for the secondary "stars" of Star Trek (first season DeKelley, and Doohan, Takei, Nichols, Koenig, Barrett, Whitney). Ben21 uses it for Rhys's character on Torchwood.
I believe right now, for shows without an editor, if you want to add a main star to a single episode, submit them as a Starring Role and they'll automatically go into Show Cast for that episode. |

well its because I noticed the editor on NCIS: Los Angeles has done it to Rocky Carroll who plays the same character as he does on NCIS...but credits him as a Starring role for the episodes he is in. But the show lists him as a Special Guest Star. Discretion of the editor, or should there be a proper way? Or maybe get rid of Starring role in the guest star spot altogether? |

Starring Role serves a useful purpose, so I wouldn't recommend losing it.
It's possible the editor selected Starring Role instead of Special Guest Star by mistake. If you go into the pulldown and type S, you could get the wrong thing. Since you have the on-screen credit to back you up, have you tried to edit it to SGStar, or contact the editor? |
