And another thing with the list, "Feel Like Making Love" by Bad Company is a great song, there's no way in heck that's it's hard rock.

A tagline is a terrible thing to waste.

Why in God's name is "Purple Haze" not the highest Hendrix song?
Because I don't think that's really "hard rock" either?

I'd call him hard rock, psychedelic rock and blues.

Quote:
Hard rock is strongly influenced by blues music; the most frequently used scale in hard rock is the pentatonic, which is a typical blues scale.[1] Unlike traditional rock and roll (which takes elements of the "old" blues), hard rock incorporates elements of "British blues", a style of blues played with more modern instruments such as electric guitars, drums, keyboards and electric bass. A notable departure from traditional blues forms is that hard rock is seldom restricted to the I, IV, and V chords prevalent in twelve or sixteen bar blues, but includes other chords, typically major chords rooted on tones of the minor scale.

Maiden, Priest, and Dio (along with many others on the list) are not hard rock at all. Some of the songs on here are identical to the ones on the "Greatest Metal Songs" list. Vh1 isn't even trying. It's almost as if someone hit the "Shuffle" button on their iTunes, and then copy/pasted the songs onto television format.
