There is a report that Led Zeppelin will be reuniting for a new cd...minus Robert Plant. Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have confirmed that a new CD is in the works, along with a tour. This is where Plant jumps off. He has no plans in touring for the next 2 years, which would make him 62 by then.
So, is this still Led Zeppelin, or did they really die with John Bonham?

This is rediculous. Zeppelin was one of the best bands of all time, it should stay that way. They died with Bonham, and they knew it at the time. I guess (some of them) forgot. |

I voted "who cares" simply because I wont even bother to see them, as I imagine the tickets will be outlandishly priced.
And about when a band is no longer a band.. I dunno. It's tough when band members come and go. Look at Nine Inch Nails. They've been around since the late '80s but Trent Reznor is the only one from the original lineup. Then you've got King Crimson who has gone through more members than you can count on all your fingers and toes. I think Robert Fripp is the only original left and there was probably times when he wasn't even involved in the band
Anyway, it's one thing to replace a member here or there but when band members pass away and others just chose not to be involved it gets foggy. But I think most people believe a Plant-less Zeppelin is no Zeppelin at all. |

I saw Foreigner on TV Sunday and they consist of one original member...1. But I must say that the new singer sounds exactly like Lou Gramm, lol. As you said, many bands have changed/lost members and carried on. How about The Who? I think they were okay after Keith Moon died because he wasn't a vocal portion of the band, just the drummer...and we know they can be replaced. But when John Entwistle died a large part of their spirit died too. Although seeing the survivors at ages 63 and 64 is kind of creepy too. They claim that they will quit when they are all dead Funny thing is I can remember back around '79 when the were playing their final tour of the US, lol. Long Live Rock! |

I voted yes, as long as the music is good and at least 1 of the original members is onboard, they should go on.
If you had asked the same question for GNR, I'd probably vote no, but that's because I really like what the ex-members are doing with VR. |

This reminds me.. Alice in Chains is touring again with a new singer. I haven't gotten a chance to hear them but I guess the new guy sounds like Layne Staley, which is kewl.
They're going to be part of Australia's Soundwave Festival in 2009, alongside Nine Inch Nails, Scars on Broadway and Lamb of God. Damn.. that's a show I would like to see. |

Yeah, they've been touring for quite awhile now and performed at the VH1 Rock Honors. They combine both Queen and Bad Company songs during their set.
Under Pressure from the Rock Honors show. For some reason Paul looks like Danny Bonaduce in this clip, lol. |

I can't even imagine Queen without Freddie Mercury. I don't think I want to find out what it's like, either. |
