I fully admit I went into watching the pilot with exceedingly high expectations, what with AMC's recent streak of blockbuster shows that I truly loved. Jaded? perhaps, but I've come to expect certain things from AMC... a compelling storyline, an interesting character or two, well above average cinematography, etc. I knew ahead of time it was going to be a slowly developing story, and I'm ok with that, but only to a point. which is why I nicknamed the pilot "Fear the Disappointment". This was a not much more than a Lifetime channel show, but with zombies. I found the characters to be dull to say the least. In no way did the writers make me feel compelled to be interested in any character. There was no blaming the actors for this, as I actually like the cast. The storyline was trite, completely predictable, uninteresting. Nearly every scene I found myself muttering "just get ON with it already". IMO, they did the classic Ang Lee mistake of misreading what their target audience wanted from the show. In short, I'll give it another couple of watchings, and if no improvement is seen, i'ts off my watch list. A shocking concept for me, since TWD is quite literally my favorite show. Ever. sorry folks... Rant over. Review posted on Friday, August 28th 2015 at 1:07 pm |

AMC should stick with The Walking Dead. This show is boring so far. Not much in the way of walking dead. After the end of the first episode no one even knows there are walking dead except the junkies parents who didn't even find out until the very end of the first episode. Pretty pitiful so far.
